Bagpipe player

Bagpipe player for all occasions ... ideal for adding a touch of the highlands to any event.

Iain came to piping late , after giving up active sport.

After learning with Colac and Newtown bands ,he travelled to Adelaide in 2000 with the Colac Pipes and Drums to participate in the Australian Pipeband Championships of that year.

Since then, Iain has played at many functions and festivals locally, across Victoria ,and interstate; including the Australian F1 Grand Prix, the Melbourne Cup and the Australian Celtic Festival, held annually at Glen Innes, N.S.W. He is currently regularly rehearsing with Ringwood RSL Pipes and Drums.

In the early 2000's , he became an official piper to the Clan MacThomas Society and has played at Society functions in Australia and Scotland. He is still an active member of ,and piper for that organisation. He has participated as a Piper (with other Clan Pipers ) to Clan MacThomas in the welcoming ceremony at Edinburgh Castle as part of the 2017 Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Thanks in anticipation,

Best wishes,

Iain Coombs.

As well as band tuition, Iain takes frequent individual tuition from well-recognised piper and tutor, Geoff Jones ,in Geelong.

In recent years, Iain has pursued his love of solo piping, playing at weddings, funerals and other functions .

His repertoire includes such well-known tunes as :-

  • Mull of Kintyre
  • Amazing Grace
  • Loch Lomond
  • Danny Boy
  • Highland Cathedral
  • and a good selection of traditional pipe tunes.
