Since graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2003, John has worked extensively throughout Australia and abroad as a pianist, composer, arranger and producer, and has performed with acclaimed Australian Jazz icons James Morrison and Don Burrows.

He has also performed with the American Saxophonist and Arranger Bob Mintzer, and studied composition and arranging with Graeme Lyall, Tony Gould and former Count Basie Orchestra leader Frank Foster.

In 2012 John was nominated for a Green Room Award (Best Musical Direction of a Caberet) for When I Fall In Love – The Nat King Cole Story (Luckiest Productions), starring Bert LaBonte. This production originally performed a sellout season at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2011, and has since had two return seasons at Chapel Off Chapel in Melbourne.

John has been Musical Director for many theatre productions in Geelong. Recent Musical Direction credits for Footlight Productions include Les Miserables, Cats, The Boy From Oz, West Side Story and Miss Saigon. He also performed regularly in the band for the Australian premiere of Jersey Boys.

John is a Secondary School Teacher at St. Joseph’s College Geelong, where he combines his teaching with the roles of Stage Band Director and College Accompanist.
